CNBC chief economic commentator, Steve Liesman’s recent bonehead comments – “this country has been built on consumer debt..” & “debt is always pointed out as a negative thing, when in fact debt is the great bridge between working hard and playing hard in this country” would be comical if only this mentality wasn’t shared by those that wield economic policy i.e. central banks and politicians. Mainstream economics is truly intellectually bankrupt (excuse the pun) if this passes as the best a financial TV channel can muster for their chief economics commentator. The attached clip is Peter Schiff ‘s interpretation of Liesman’s comments. Hint: Schiff disagrees.
